Recently my Zoysia lawn started developing unsightly yellow patches. This made me worry as it happened right at the beginning of the winter here in Brisbane and we’ve had a fair bit of rain as well. The immediate suspect was of course fungus!

Upon closer inspection of the entire lawn surface, I realised that each yellow area was accompanied by flowers and seeds.

It appears that it’s a fight for resources and the grass prioritises seed development while sacrificing chlorophyll production and leaf health. I wonder if this can be prevented by applying rapid greening liquid fertiliser in early stages of yellowing.
